The 2025 Polestar 3 lineup is expanding to include a more accessible and efficient option with the introduction of a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant. This rear-drive model is equipped with a single 295-horsepower motor, significantly less powerful than the 483 hp standard dual-motor setup and the 510 hp in the Performance trim. Battery and Range: Maximizing Efficiency

The RWD Polestar 3 retains the same 107.0-kWh battery pack found in its dual-motor counterparts. Despite the decrease in horsepower, the efficiency gains are substantial. According to Polestar, the Long Range Single Motor variant can travel over 400 miles on a single charge based on the WLTP testing cycle, which is more lenient than the EPA’s testing standards. In the U.S., this suggests the RWD model will likely surpass the dual-motor variants’ range ratings, which are 315 miles for the Long Range and 279 miles for the Performance pack.

Charging capabilities remain robust, with the 107.0-kWh battery supporting up to 250 kW on a DC fast-charging connection. This ensures that despite its lower price point, the RWD Polestar 3 doesn’t compromise on charging speed, allowing for quick top-ups during long journeys.

Design and Features: Premium Experience Intact

Despite the reduction in power, the RWD Polestar 3 maintains the premium features and comfort associated with the brand. Polestar ensures that the entry-level model still offers a comprehensive options list. Buyers can choose from six paint options and various interior finishes, allowing for a personalized touch. Additionally, four wheel options are available, including a newly introduced set of 21-inch alloy wheels as part of the Pro Pack.

The vehicle’s interior remains luxurious, featuring high-quality materials and advanced technology. Pricing and Availability

While Polestar has yet to confirm the exact pricing for North America, expectations are set for the entry-level model to start just under $70,000 before potential tax incentives. This pricing would position the RWD variant approximately $5,000 below the Long Range Dual Motor trim and over $10,000 less than the Performance model. Such pricing makes the Polestar 3 RWD a compelling option for those looking to enter the premium EV market without stretching their budget.

Production of the North American model is anticipated to begin in South Carolina this summer, with deliveries commencing later in the year. This timeline aligns with Polestar’s broader strategy to expand its market presence and cater to a growing demand for electric vehicles in the United States.
