Mahindra Thar EV Launch details
Thar EV
Thar Electric’s concept model is based on a new platform called the INGLO-P1 platform with improved ground clearance and better off-road capability. The vehicle’s wheelbase has been extended from 2,775 mm to 2,975 mm to accommodate additional doors and battery packs. The on-sale model of the Thar EV will be different from the concept model.
Design
Compared to the existing petrol and diesel models, the Mahindra Thar.E will have a futuristic design. This electric SUV will have rounded corners, an upright nose, and rectangular LED headlamps. The steel front bumper of the vehicle gives the vehicle a rugged look. The Electric Thar has an additional set of doors. The vehicle also gets large alloy wheels with rectangular wheel arches.
The cabin
Inside the cabin, the vehicle comes with different drive modes. There will be 75 sounds in this vehicle. The sound of this vehicle is composed by the famous music director AR Rahman. The Mahindra Thar.E features a minimalistic dashboard design with a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, and a new steering wheel. The company is yet to reveal more details about the upcoming SUV.
Powertrain
The Thar Electric will be different from the company’s only electric vehicle, the Mahindra XUV400. Coming with off-road features, the Thar EV will have a large battery pack. This vehicle will have two motors with a 4WD system. The vehicle will also have off-roading features that generate instant torque. The biggest feature of this vehicle will be the large battery pack for off-road power.
Launch
The company has not yet revealed the launch date of the Mahindra Thar electric vehicle. The Thar EV is expected to be commercially manufactured and launched in late 2024 or early 2025, with the new electric vehicle plant expected to start operations by March 2024. Apart from the Thar, the company has also announced that some other vehicles will be launched in the electric version. All upcoming Mahindra electric vehicles will have 75 sounds.
