Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Maruti Suzuki appears to be staging an impressive comeback in the competitive SUV segment, with a revitalized lineup attracting attention. The recent completion of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Fronx in July 2023 is nothing short of extraordinary. The Fronx, a sub-compact SUV, has not only secured a spot among India’s top ten best-selling cars but has also outperformed several well-established rivals, including the Tata Nexon.

Top Selling SUV

During July 2023, Maruti Suzuki showcased its prowess by retailing an impressive 13,220 units of the Fronx. This accomplishment is noteworthy, especially considering that the Fronx made its debut on the Indian automotive stage at the prestigious Auto Expo in January 2023, followed by its market launch in May of the same year. In a remarkable feat, the Fronx secured the third position in the SUV sales hierarchy within just three months of its market presence, closely tailing the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Hyundai Creta. A particularly noteworthy highlight is that the Fronx managed to outpace the Tata Nexon, registering 12,349 units sold during the same period, thus establishing itself as a strong contender.

Engine and Transmission

As of July 2023, the Fronx has firmly secured its standing as the third highest-selling SUV in India, trailing behind only the Maruti Suzuki Brezza (16,543 units) and the Hyundai Creta (14,062 units). Additionally, the Fronx proudly holds the seventh position among the country’s elite top ten highest-selling cars. At the forefront of this list is the Maruti Suzuki Swift (17,896 units), followed by the Baleno (16,725 units) in second place, with the Brezza continuing to make its mark in third.

Unveiled in May 2023, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx distinguishes itself as a five-door, five-seater crossover, built upon the Baleno platform while exuding a distinctive exterior design that sets it apart. The Fronx’s appeal is primarily attributed to its lower-spec variants, including the Sigma, Delta, and Delta+ models. These variants are equipped with a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a powertrain shared with the Baleno hatchback. Available with both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox, this engine generates a respectable 90 PS of power along with 113 Nm of torque.

Fronx Aditional Option

Notably, the Fronx offers an additional option in the form of a more potent 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine. Boasting a power output of 100 PS and a torque of 147 Nm, this engine is available with both a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This places the Fronx in direct competition with the Tata Nexon, which features a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. The Nexon also offers a choice between a 6-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.

Tata Upcoming Nexon

In parallel, Tata Motors is actively gearing up to introduce a significantly revamped iteration of the Nexon. Envisaged with reworked exterior aesthetics and a thoroughly upgraded interior, this enhanced Nexon version is poised to elevate the model’s appeal with many enhanced features. Anticipated to grace showrooms ahead of the upcoming festive season, this revamped Tata Nexon is set to further intensify the competition in the vibrant SUV market.

In essence, Maruti Suzuki’s notable achievement with the Fronx underscores the brand’s prowess and the compelling allure of its offerings in the contemporary automotive landscape. With its rapidly growing popularity and its remarkable sales performance, the Fronx attests to Maruti Suzuki’s strategic acumen and resonates with India’s discerning automotive enthusiasts.
