Upcoming Maruti Cars in India

Maruti Suzuki Swift 2023

The much-anticipated next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is set to arrive in the Indian market in September 2023, with a starting price of around Rs. 9.00 lakh. Swift’s next iteration is expected to have larger dimensions in terms of both length and width. The interior will be completely redesigned, and rumors suggest that Suzuki’s new touchscreen infotainment system will make an appearance. The automaker is also expected to introduce a powerful hybrid system for the Swift, which will contribute to improved fuel efficiency.

Similar to the Grand Vitara, both mild hybrid and strong hybrid variants are expected to be available. The standard Swift will continue to be powered by the 1.2-liter DualJet petrol engine, which is available with both a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT gearbox. The powerful hybrid version could include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine paired with an electric motor, aiming for a fuel economy of 35-40 kmpl. This engine configuration may be accompanied by a CVT transmission.

Maruti Jimny EV

The Maruti Jimny EV is expected to be released in September 2025, with a price tag of around Rs. 14.00 lakh. This three-door electric SUV is initially slated for release in Europe, following in the footsteps of its ICE counterpart. Despite the lack of specific design and technical details, rumors suggest that the Jimny EV will have a 60 kWh battery, similar to the eVX concept. This electric motor configuration could include two motors, one for each axle, resulting in an all-wheel-drive setup.

Maruti Suzuki S Cross 2023

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Facelift, a crossover SUV, is expected to be released by the end of 2023, with a price range of Rs. 10.00 lakh to Rs. 16.00 lakh. This model will only be available with a mild-hybrid petrol engine and manual or automatic transmission. The inclusion of notable modern features such as a 360-degree camera and a heads-up display is expected. The S-Cross Facelift will compete in the competitive segment against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. With a 1.5L engine producing 102 BHP and fuel options including petrol, the mileage is expected to reach up to 21 kmpl. The vehicle can seat five people.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport

The Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport is expected to debut by the end of 2024, with a price range of Rs. 8.00 lakh to Rs. 10.00 lakh. This sportier Swift is powered by a lively 121bhp engine that has received praise for providing an exhilarating driving experience at a reasonable price. The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Fronx features a 1-liter Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine that has been locally sourced to save money. This engine is likely to make its way into other models, including the Swift Sport. The international Swift Sport’s sporty aesthetics and features may be adopted for the Indian variant as well. The Indian Swift Sport’s 1-liter Boosterjet engine could produce 100bhp and 147Nm of torque, outperforming the current 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine.
