Home » Nissan Motor Corp. »It was 2012 when Nissan unveiled their fourth generation of the Pathfinder model and it looked
completely different–even unrecognizable–from the previous models with their three-row SUV
that can be considered a minivan replacement. A lot of people weren’t fans of the redesign,
which is why when the fifth generation was announced in February of 2021, the anticipation was
at an all-time high. So, in comparison to the Nissan Pathfinder 2022, we can all agree that
they’ve truly come a long way, especially in terms of the exterior design.
The Nissan Pathfinder 2022 sports a completely new and sleek design, which catapults this car to
compete with the solid SUVs like the Subaru Ascent, Mazda CX-9, Chevy Traverse, and the Kia
Telluride. The price tag of the Pathfinder is also quite similar to the other contenders, ranging
from $34,560 for the S model, $37,350 for the SV, $40,740 for the SL, and $47,340 for the
Platinum.
Features & Specification
Despite being priced at the lowest prices out of all 4, the S, as well as the SV, are equipped with
up-to-date driver assistance features, so you’ll be definitely getting a bang for your buck even
with the most affordable model. However, there’s no doubt that the SL premium will be more
than worth its price if you up the budget a little bit as it boasts a 9.0-inch infotainment system, a
The 360-degree camera system, wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, panoramic sunroof, Bose stereo
the system, heated seats, 20-inch wheels, and wireless smartphone charging.
When it comes to the exterior, many would agree that Nissan conveniently managed to drop the
dull design and replaced it with a new model with a more rugged appearance, which fits
perfectly in this day and age. This is not to say that they completely got rid of every trace of the
the old design of the Pathfinder–they still kept bits and pieces of the old models like the top
horizontal slat of the grille and the forward edge of the hood.
Nissan Pathfinder 2022 Interior
The interior of the car is where most of the changes were made. They changed the outdated style
of the interior with a more modern and stylish look. First things first, they one-upped the
infotainment system from the previous generations as one of the main complaints was the
low-quality displays. Now, the 2022 Pathfinder is equipped with an 8 to 9-inch high-resolution
touch screen, depending on the model you’ll be getting. Features like automatic emergency
braking, blindspot monitors, and ProPilot were also added for a seamless and safe driving
experience.
The seats also received a major upgrade with the option to add captain’s chairs instead of the
second-row seats, giving the passengers the ultimate comfort. Storage is also an aspect that they
had in mind for the new model; they incorporated more storage cubbies into the car with a large
bin located below the center console.
Engine Specification
As for the engine, the 2022 Pathfinder didn’t receive that many changes or upgrades. It still
features the same 284 hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine, the same as the previous generation. However,
they swapped the continuously variable automatic transmission for a new nine-speed automatic.
For a bit of off-roading experience, they added seven terrain modes for difficult terrains.
When compared to the previous generations, some of the pros of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder
include the fact that they got rid of the CVT system for the nine-speed automatic, which ensures
that the driving experience is smooth, especially if you’re off-roading.
The car’s contemporary
and modern interior are also a major upgrade; not only do the front and middle rows now have a
lot more space and legroom, but the one-touch slide-and-tilt feature comes really handy when
accessing the third row. And, unlike other SUVs, adults can sit comfortably in the third row with
plenty of room. The off-roading capabilities of the 2022 car are truly where this generation has
an edge over other SUVs within the same category.
Some of the Cons are :
On the flip side of the coin, there were a couple of cons that are worth mentioning. For starters,
the driving experience is undoubtedly smooth; however, it still has a heavy feel to it. Fortunately,
the Sport mode eases this restraint. The second con to the 2022 Pathfinder comes from the
upgraded large wheels, which produce a louder road noise than the previous generations,
especially when the car’s speeding.
All in all, with these new upgrades and improvements, the Japanese car manufacturer has
managed to pave the way for the 2022 Pathfinder to become a solid option for people looking for
an SUV with off-roading capabilities. At the same time, it can be a great option for families
thanks to its spacious cabin that ensures a comfortable experience for all the passengers.
