The five-seater SUV is expected to face competition from rivals such as the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra XUV e8, Citroen eC3 Aircross, and Honda’s Elevate-based EV, all set to make their presence felt in the market in the coming months.
The eVX concept, initially unveiled nearly a year ago, showcased a sleek design with LED-treated headlamps and concept-inspired DRLs. Underpinning the eVX is the YY8 skateboard platform, derived from Toyota’s 27PL, offering a sturdy foundation for the electric SUV. Equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack, the eVX is anticipated to provide a competitive claimed range of around 550 km, addressing concerns about electric vehicle range anxiety. With a targeted starting price of approximately Rs. 15 lakh, Maruti Suzuki aims to position the eVX as an affordable yet technologically advanced electric SUV in the Indian market.
As the automotive industry witnesses a paradigm shift towards electric mobility, Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the EV segment with the eVX signifies a strategic move to cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. With its expected debut by the end of 2024, the Maruti Suzuki eVX is poised to make a significant impact and contribute to the growing adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
