Updated Tata Nexon EV: Bigger Battery, More Range

Tata Motors has introduced an updated version of the Tata Nexon EV, featuring a larger battery and more driving range. The Nexon EV is one of the top-selling electric SUVs in India. This update brings important changes to its powertrain, making it even more attractive for buyers seeking an electric vehicle with an extended range.

Launch Date and Price

The updated Tata Nexon EV was recently launched, and its prices now start at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The addition of a larger 45 kWh battery has increased the price by Rs 70,000 compared to the previous model with a 40 kWh battery. The top-end variant, known as the Red Dark Edition, is priced at Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the updated Tata Nexon EV remains largely unchanged from the previous model. It continues to feature modern LED projector headlamps with connecting daytime running lights (DRLs), a closed-off front grille, and sleek body creases. At the rear, the SUV gets full-width LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators. The 16-inch alloy wheels have an aerodynamic design to help reduce air drag and improve efficiency.

Interior Features

Inside, the Nexon EV offers a premium feel, especially in the higher trims. The top-spec versions come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other notable features include a fully digital driver’s display, touch-based AC controls, and a two-spoke steering wheel with a back-lit Tata logo. The SUV also offers a sunroof, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging for added convenience.

New Red Dark Edition

Tata Motors has also launched a new Red Dark Edition of the Nexon EV. This version is available with the top-spec Empowered+ trim and adds special styling elements. The exterior features a Carbon Black body color, Piano Jet Black alloy wheels, and #Dark mascots. The inside is enhanced with Red upholstery, which contrasts with the Satin Midnight Black finish. The Red Dark Edition also offers exclusive user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) screens for a unique touch.

Battery and Range

The biggest update to the Nexon EV is its larger 45 kWh battery. This new battery increases the claimed driving range by 24 km, bringing the total range to 489 km on a single charge. This makes the Nexon EV even more suitable for long-distance driving compared to its previous version.

Safety Features

Safety has also been prioritized in the updated Nexon EV. It comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and parking sensors. Additionally, it has a tire pressure monitoring system to ensure safe driving at all times.

Competition

The Tata Nexon EV faces competition from other electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric. However, with its competitive pricing, improved range, and stylish design, the Nexon EV remains one of the top choices for electric vehicle buyers in India.

Conclusion

The updated Tata Nexon EV offers more range and new features while maintaining its status as one of India’s best-selling electric vehicles. With a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh, the Nexon EV remains an affordable and practical option for those looking to switch to electric mobility.
