Tata Curvv EV and ICE Launch in India
Tata Motors has launched its new electric vehicle, the Tata Curvv EV, in India, with prices starting at Rs 17.49 lakh.**
Exterior Design
The Tata Curvv EV and ICE share a sleek and modern design with a few distinct differences. The EV features a closed-off grille, nose-mounted charger, and aero-optimized 18-inch alloy wheels. Both variants have a coupe-like roofline, rooftop-mounted spoiler, and LED lights with a welcome signature. The design aims to blend style with aerodynamics.
Interior Features
Inside, the Curvv EV boasts a dual-tone white and grey color scheme, while the ICE variant uses a burgundy and black theme. Both models feature a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, touch-based climate control, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. High-end variants offer a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and a 320W JBL sound system.
Engine and Performance
The Curvv EV comes with two battery options: a 45kWh pack and a 55kWh pack. The 45kWh battery provides a range of up to 502km, while the 55kWh battery extends this to 585km. The 55kWh variant has a 167hp motor and can accelerate from 0-100kph in 8.6 seconds. The 45kWh version has a 150hp motor with a 0-100kph time of 9 seconds. Both batteries support fast charging, with up to 150km of range added in 15 minutes using a 70kW charger.
The Curvv ICE will feature three engine options: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel, and a new 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine. These engines will come with both manual and automatic transmission options, including a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the diesel variant.
Competition
The Curvv EV competes directly with the MG ZS EV, which is priced between Rs 18.98 lakh and Rs 25.44 lakh. The Curvv ICE will compete with popular midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Grand Vitara. Tata aims to position Curvv as a significant player in the midsize SUV segment, much like the Punch and Nexon.
