Porsche has officially launched the facelifted Taycan in India, bringing a host of updates to its acclaimed electric sports car. Unveiled globally in February, the Taycan facelift comes in two variants for the Indian market: the 4S and the Turbo. Prices start at Rs 1.89 crore for the 4S and Rs 2.53 crore for the Turbo. Details for the complete lineup, including the base RWD Taycan, Turbo S, Turbo GT, and the Cross Turismo estate version, are yet to be announced.

Subtle Yet Impactful Exterior and Interior Updates

The Porsche Taycan facelift features minimal yet significant cosmetic changes. The front end sports new LED headlamps with an HD-Matrix design and refined optics, alongside a subtly redesigned bumper with revised air vents. The rear end mirrors these updates with new tail lamps and a refreshed bumper design. Both the 4S and Turbo variants come equipped with new aero-optimized wheels, with the 4S featuring 19-inch wheels and the Turbo riding on 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the Taycan facelift boasts software updates for the digital driver’s display and infotainment unit. Porsche has introduced two new leather-free interior upholstery options, aligning with the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Standard features include 14-way adjustable front seats with heating, matrix LED headlamps, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and front and rear parking sensors with a rear parking camera. The Turbo variant further enhances the interior experience with a head-up display, a Bose sound system, and a leather interior package.

Enhanced Powertrain and Performance

The facelifted Taycan lineup is based on a new 800V architecture, resulting in more powerful and faster variants. The rear axle motor has been significantly updated, producing up to 109hp more than its predecessor, depending on the model. All motors are lighter and feature revised internals for improved efficiency and increased power.

Taycan 4S: Equipped with a dual-motor setup, the 4S variant delivers a combined power output of 517hp, which can increase to 598hp with the over-boost function. It also generates 695Nm of peak torque.

Taycan Turbo: This higher-spec variant also uses a dual-motor setup, offering 707hp and an impressive 884hp with the over-boost function, alongside 890Nm of torque.

Both variants utilize a single-speed transmission for the front axle and a 2-speed transmission for the rear axle. Standard features include adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The Turbo variant further benefits from Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and the Sport Chrono package as standard.

Upgraded Battery and Charging Capabilities

Significant updates have been made to the Taycan’s battery and charging systems. The Turbo variant now features a larger Performance Battery Plus, with a gross capacity increased from 93.4kWh to 105kWh. The 800V architecture supports energy recuperation at up to 320kW, a 50kW improvement. The 4S variant’s battery has been upgraded to 89kWh from the previous 79.2kWh capacity.

Porsche claims a WLTP range of 503km to 590km for the 89kWh battery and 579km to 678km for the 105kWh battery. An 11kW on-board AC charger is provided as standard.

Conclusion

The Porsche Taycan facelift brings a blend of subtle design updates, significant powertrain improvements, and enhanced battery capabilities. Priced at Rs 1.89 crore for the 4S and Rs 2.53 crore for the Turbo, it continues to position itself as a premier electric sports car in the Indian market. With the combination of performance, luxury, and sustainability, the updated Taycan is set to attract a discerning clientele eager for the latest in electric vehicle technology.  For prospective buyers and electric vehicle enthusiasts, the Porsche Taycan facelift offers a compelling package that underscores Porsche’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the electric vehicle segment
